Finally!

August 31st, 2012 at 01:06 am

We found a place to live. We are moving out at the end of October. If I could move the date up closer I would. I am just so excited. It's our first place! We have been shopping a few times, and honestly, it's been amazing. Now, we found out that Hubby got a job that he was going for with AT&T. It's a premisis technician job. Basically, he installs UVERSE TV. I'm so happy for him.

He's been looking for a full time job for over a year now and he finally got one. And it gives us a significant raise in income, about $400 extra a month. And with our move approaching, it couldn't come at a better time. Ugh, I'm just so excited!!!

Wonderful news that DH has found full time work and doubled by finding your 1st home. Moving is expensive with a huge number of smaller expenses. Will you need to pay a 'deposit' for utilities [light, heat]? Will you need to rent a truck & dolly/cart for furniture? Do you have your emergency fund in place?

I'm not wishing to reduce your joy, just suggesting you use your resources to get best value between now & move-in date.

We do have an emergency fund in place, about $5500. Moving is definitely more expensive than I anticipated. We will have to rent a UHAUL, not for furniture, but because we both have small cars and lots of items to move. I'm not sure about the deposit for the utilities. I know for the lights, FPL waives the $200 deposit if you allow them to withdraw the money directly from your checking account. You aren't reducing my joy. Questions are definitely acceptable.

What a relief after a year of looking! Congratulations to your DH. It is amazing that this economy leads to such long periods of unemployment, even for people who are looking and WANT to work. Also, that is great that you have the insurance of a new place to live right around the same time. Good luck with your move!
