Baby blankets

June 21st, 2011 at 05:20 pm

In one of my last entries, I wrote that I'd be thinking of ways to make money. Well, I figured that on my spare time I can crochet and make baby blankets and sell them. I'm thinking between e-bay and craigslist. E-bay is good because it's beyond local but you have to pay fees. Craigslist is good because there's no fees but it's only local. Ideas? Suggestions?

Etsy? Don't know much about them (whether it costs or not) but it's a good place to sell, I've heard. Also, don't be afraid to spread the word to your networks on Facebook and/or Twitter. As long as friends don't hound me, I never mind a soft sell now and then, and I've even passed the word along to other friends they might not know.

Craft and homemade items are more likely to sell better on etsy.com. Good luck!

I looked into etsy, there is a fee, but it looks like the right kind of place for selling the blanket.

I like etsy a lot. I've bought a few things from artisans there and have always been happy with the buying process.

Yes, as a person who would buy a baby blanket, I would like to buy at etsy.com. I would also expect to find something other than the expected pastels, though there is nothing wrong with pastels. When I was a young parent, my favorite baby blanket was black with gold, maroon, red, navy and yellow-- sort of a Bohemian look. I think much of the etsy audience looks for surprising originality and a youthful freshness.
